Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Summer season is just around the corner and if you have a pool, you may be wondering how the newly instituted tariffs will interact with your season.
Todd Schupbach, General Manager of Gary Pools and Leisure, says he has a handle on his inventory already.
"Most of my inventory has been purchased for the majority of the season, and anything that I have brought in pre tariff will remain at the old pricing. However, this season is short, fast paced, so if I have to go back to the manufacturer to reorder, then I will be subject to paying a higher price."
Schupbach adds, the only problem area people could face is with chemicals ordered from online outlets rather than in store, US manufactured chemicals.
"There are low price people usually online who bring in imported chemicals, especially in the chlorines and bromines, and those will more than likely be affected by the tariffs."
Matt Monkelbaan, co-owner of Alden Pools and Play, assures that a lot of their products manufactured in the US, but consumers should still get a jump on things to mitigate potential of overspending.
"Absolutely get it done as soon as possible and get a jump on it before we see increases. A lot of the manufacturers are already starting to put surcharges on so it's going to start affecting everything really soon."
