Orchard Park, N.Y. (WBEN) - When the Buffalo Bills host the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday in Orchard Park, all eyes will not just be on the game.
The NFL Today crew, the NFL on CBS' pregame show, will broadcast live from Highmark Stadium, bringing excitement to Orchard Park and Western New York.
"This is huge to have Buffalo as the pregame show," says Patrick Kaler of Visit Buffalo Niagara.
He says there will be lots of cutaways during the game. But when it comes to which places are spotlighted, "we, unfortunately do not have the opportunity to help influence any of the cutaway shots. We always do some outreach, but they already have their own team out on the ground doing those shots days leading up to the game. You know, we will always supply them with a list of things, but they always do their research and come in with their thoughts already dialed in," says Kaler.
Kaler says the exposure is priceless. "The national eyes, actually the worldwide eyes, could potentially be on the game, and the pregame as pretty high and that's just something that's pretty invaluable, something that visit Buffalo Niagara would never be able to purchase," says Kaler.
As the Chiefs visit, Travis Kelce's high profile girlfriend Taylor Swift might be in attendance. Kaler says whether she does is the billion dollar question. "My guess is that she's so close and her boyfriend will be on the field at Highmark Stadium, and the likelihood of her being at the game is probably pretty high," says Kaler. Swift is performing in Toronto that weekend.
Orchard Park's name has been coming up more and more on the NFL telecasts, that's music to the ears of Don Lorentz of the Orchard Park Chamber of Commerce. "I just think that that's a really healthy thing for our community, people getting a chance to actually see Orchard Park, hearing that name all the time," says Lorentz. He believes this is probably one of the first years where the town's getting recognized as being the home of the Buffalo Bills.
Lorentz says Bills banners are up throughout the village and town. "We have a big, large, inflatable buffalo that's in front of the chamber office, right at the Four Corners. We have signs that some people have made up that it says, 'OP loves the Bills', and more and more places, businesses and even some of the homeowners are putting those up in their yards," says Lorentz.
The only drawback is there are no hotels for crews to stay within Orchard Park. "What I am hoping is that typically, when we have anybody coming in celebrities, they'll typically go somewhere in Orchard Park to get something to eat. So, hopefully they'll partake from one of our restaurants, and we'll get some publicity that way," adds Lorentz.
Kickoff on Sunday is slated for 4:25 p.m. EST.
