Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Niagara Falls is preparing for roughly 1 million people to pour into the city come Monday, April 8, with many of them flocking to Niagara Falls State Park to take in the once-in-a-lifetime viewing of the Total Solar Eclipse over the Horseshoe Falls.

State Parks spokeswoman Angela Berti explained on Wednesday that staff at the park is well-equipped to deal with the large influx of people who are expected to make their way into the city.

"We're anticipating Fourth of July-type crowds here at Niagara Falls, which we do well. Our crew here is really good at managing crowds," said Berti in an interview with WBEN. "No matter what number of people we get, we're really confident that it'll be a safe and memorable event for everybody."

The Goat Island and Prospect Point parking lots will be the two main parking zones for anyone wishing to attend. However, Berti expresses for anyone wishing to come on April 8, they should plan to arrive early and be prepared for any weather.

"We're going to park until we're full. There's plenty of spots in the city for parking. We'll be making that available on websites soon, just so people can plan ahead, and then walk into the park from there," Berti said. "We don't know what the weather will hold. Bring some food, bring some snacks, and bring patience and bring your excitement for celestial events."
