Niagara Falls, N.Y. (WBEN) Just over a week after WBEN reported on two malfunctioning freezers that resulted in $25 thousand dollars worth of food being spoiled for Niagara Gospel Mission, the Niagara Falls food pantry
is back on its feet - and then some.

"The response has been incredible, just as we had prayed and hoped for,"
said Colton Lackey, Development Director of Niagara Gospel Mission, on Portage Rd.

He said the organization has recovered completely from the loss.

"Financially, we thought we lost about $25 thousand dollars worth of food.
In monetary donations, we have received over $40 thousand dollars in gifts and food-wise, we have received over three thousand pounds of frozen meat and other items, allowing us to fully restock both of our freezers to above capacity," added Lackey.

He said the city of Buffalo has always been known as the city of good neighbors, but now Western New York is the region of good neighbors.

"We're just in awe of those who support us, and the community around us.
People want to help and contribute to a good cause and we believe we're doing good work."
