Lake View, N.Y. (WBEN) - Town of Hamburg police have released updated information regarding the investigation into the cause of a house explosion on West Avenue in the Hamlet of Lake View on Monday night.
In a news release posted to social media, Cpt. John Baker says fire investigators have not found any evidence to suggest that the incident was intentional or criminal at this time. Cpt. Baker adds the investigation into what happened is “ongoing and very complex."
Investigators estimate it will be months before an official cause of the explosion is released.
National Fuel announced on Thursday that their investigation into the incident revealed no leaks or other operational issues that could have caused the explosion.
78-year-old John Pease was injured in the blast, and remains in critical condition at Erie County Medical Center. His wife, 78-year-old Joene Pease, was killed when the home exploded.
