BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) – Governor Andrew Cuomo's latest state of the state address highlighted a "new green energy economy" with some projects expected to be created in the Western New York and Finger Lakes region as early as this year.
The governor said the projects could affect future generations because of ongoing concerns about the climate.
"Nature is telling us, 'do something or I will,'" Cuomo said.

The state is planning to build a 200 megawatt solar project in Orleans County and in other rural parts of the state.
"These projects will not only create power, but bring needed economic opportunity to struggling parts of our state," Cuomo said.
New York State is also planning to create a 20-mile line from Niagara Falls to Elma to maximize renewable energy output. Cuomo said these projects will break grid congestion as part of the "energy superhighway", which will create a storage facility for energy for use when needed.
