Orchard Park, N.Y. (WBEN) - Customs and Border Protection agents in Buffalo arrested three people in Western New York on Wednesday who, authorities say, have ties to Romanian organized crime.

A woman and two men were taken into custody in Orchard Park following a public tip, officials said.

Martin Coombs, deputy patrol agent in charge of the Buffalo sector, said the three entered the United States illegally through the Southern border.

“There’s a large population of individuals here with criminal backgrounds that we want to remove from our streets, from our communities,” Coombs told WBEN.

Officials add the three were turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for removal proceedings.
