BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) – The race to get people vaccinated continues in New York State.
34% of New Yorkers have received at least one dose of the vaccine while nearly 22% of New Yorkers are fully vaccinated.
"I'm glad to get it," Tony from Lackawanna said. "If we all just pitch in a little we can help get this thing done and over with and get back to normal."
Tony was one of hundreds of people who received a vaccine Wednesday at a pop-up vaccination site in the City of Lackawanna. Several people we talked with were wary about immediately jumping back into social gatherings, especially with those who have not received a vaccine yet.
Others, though, looking forward to a return to normalcy.
"Going to bingo," a woman named Patty said. "Going to the beach maybe."
Charles George from Lackawanna left the clinic yesterday relieved to have gotten a vaccine but also lamented that his wife was not able to get the vaccine. She was one of the more than 1,700 Erie County residents who died from the disease that has claimed the life of more than 559,000 Americans.
"Get the shot," George said. "It could save your life."
