Newfane, NY (WBEN) A pedestrian was struck and killed in Niagara County this morning.
Around 10am Friday, sheriff's deputies say they got a call of person struck by a truck in the 2700 block of Hess road in Newfane. When they arrived, deputies say they found the pedestrian laying in the northbound lane.
Deputies say their preliminary investigation shows that a 2011 Freightliner truck was traveling northbound on Hess Road when it struck the pedestrian.
The pedestrian was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the pedestrian is being withheld at this time until family notification can be made.
The driver of the truck is cooperating with police
