BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - There is a push to improve pedestrian and bicyclist access along the Grant Street corridor in the City of Buffalo.
Starting next week, there will be a series of public workshops to go over various concepts for the major road that goes through Buffalo's West Side and Black Rock neighborhoods.
The goal for the city is to create a vision that reflects the future needs of residents, visitors, and area businesses.
"Nothing is more important than centering the voices of the people that live here in the community, their desires, their needs, and what their vision is for their street and their community," Justin Booth, Executive Director of GOBike Buffalo, said. "Our emphasis has been to listen, to engage, and to apply some design concepts based on what we've heard from them."
GOBike will showcase the concepts next Tuesday and Wednesday during public workshop at Campus Walk on 643 Grant Street. There will also be a workshop on Saturday, June 5.
"We will continue to seek community feedback until we're confident we know the ideal, inclusive, concept for moving Grant Street forward," State Senator Sean Ryan said.
Last year, Preservation Buffalo Niagara conducted a study to assess the corridor's demographics in order to preserve the identity of the area. A final report with policy recommendations will come out in the coming days.
