Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Not snow fast.

That's what some in Buffalo are saying about Mayor Sean Ryan's declaration that snow removal in the city under his watch is the best it's been in years.

"We had the best storm response we've done in over five years," Mayor Ryan said about the city's snow pickup last week.

Not to everyone.

"I was very disappointed in the snow removal in the past week-and-a-half," said North District Councilman Joe Golombek during an appearance on WBEN. "I think the mayor did make a mistake going on television saying it was the best snow cleanup they've had in the last five years. My phone started to light up after that... dozens of people calling me and saying the snow hadn't been removed yet."

Golombek also says he thought some of the messaging on moving cars and alternate parking during the snow was confusing and hampered efforts.

"Once you make changes, people get thrown off, and what happens is exactly what I expected to happen," Golombek said. "Half of the people moved their cars and half did not... Every side street was a disaster, because there were cars on both sides of the street."

The Council member called them "growing pains" for the new administration, and something that can be learned from.
