Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Congressman Nick Langworthy (R, NY-23) on Friday continued to take aim at the Biden-Harris administration for their lack of urgency in addressing the border crisis, as well as introduce legislation that seeks to deny parole of known terrorists.
Langworthy made his case outside the Robert H. Jackson Courthouse by referencing a number of arrests made this year across the country from people crossing the Southern border, including a recent apprehension of a Peruvian gang leader in New York's Southern Tier, Gianfranco Torres-Navarro, who was wanted in his home country for the alleged murders of 23 people.
"Under Biden's administration, millions of illegal immigrants have been paroled into this country, including Mr. Navarro, many from countries known to be breeding grounds for terrorism," said Langworthy in Buffalo.
"We have seen these consequences. It's already happened in this country. Just recently, eight individuals from Tajikistan, with suspected ties to ISIS, were arrested in a multi-agency sting in Los Angeles, New York and Philadelphia. All eight of them crossed our southern border, one even used the Customs and Border Patrol One app, a key tool in this administration's mass parole programs to enter this country legally. These are exactly the kind of people that the SAFER at the Border Act will prevent from being paroled into the United States in the first place."
Langworthy introduced the SAFER at the Border Act.
"This legislation would prohibit the Department of Homeland Security from paroling migrants who are designated as known or suspected terrorists," said Langworthy.
