Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Another Buffalo Sabres player is packing his bags, as winger Alex Tuch has been traded to the Washington Capitals in a sign-and-trade deal.
Buffalo signed the Syracuse native to an eight-year, $84 million contract, and then traded him to the Capitals in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft and forward David Kampf.

Sabres general manager Jarmo Kekolainen says he made it clear the team wanted Tuch to stay.
"I don't think at this point that we've come to any point in our talks that would indicate he wants to sign with us," said Kekolainen prior to the trade reports. "We made it clear to him we wanted to sign him, he was a good leader, but when they have the power to choose they choose differently."
Tuch scored 33 goals with the Sabres this past season.
