Republicans now question Trump's mail-in voting messaging

(WBEN) - As the Presidential election comes down to mailed-in and absentee ballots, Republicans may be questioning their strategy around that style of voting going in to the race.

In the months leading up to the election, the President consistently spread the unfounded message that casting ballots through the mail would lead to fraud and cheating, and encouraged his supporters to not vote by mail. Because of that, it is not surprising to see most of the mailed-in ballots favor Joe Biden.

"I've talked to many Republicans who have questioned that strategy of not encouraging his supporters to vote any way they can," said Republican political strategist Carl Calabrese. "There's a lot of second guessing going on about that strategy."

Now, Biden appears to be closing the voting gap in swing states as the count continues. The Trump campaign has announced it is filing a lawsuit in three states: Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Wisconsin, to contest the counting of mailed-in ballots in Tuesday's election.
