Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The war of words continues between Buffalo's two leading Democrats ahead of next month's mayoral primary.
State Senator Sean Ryan, who is also the Democrats' endorsed candidate for Buffalo mayor, called on the city's Deputy Mayor Brian Gould to stepdown from the lobbying firm e3communications. Gould and Mayor Chris Scanlon have reportedly been in discussions to privatize Kleinhan's, Shea's, Sahlen Field, the history and science museums, and the Buffalo Zoo.
"It's this type of disgrace, and the people of Buffalo should be outraged that this is blatant corruption happening here in the city," says Ryan. "The Deputy Mayor must release his full list of clients."
Mayor Scanlon responded quickly to Ryan's comments, saying no plan exist to privatize those institutions and the plan was never even proposed. "To allege that my administration is trying to offload our cultural assets as he claims is completely untrue and it’s simply an attempt to spread misinformation by someone who is clearly more interested in political theater than public service."
Primaries will be held June 24th.
