Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Here comes the wind!
As advertised, Monday will be extremely windy across all of Western New York, beginning late tonight and extending right through the Buffalo Bills Monday Night Football appearance.
Along with the winds will come the threat of lakeshore flooding.
A series of High Wind Watches and Warnings are posted along with a Lakeshore Flood Advisory Monday for the Lake Erie shoreline in Erie County.
HIGH WIND WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY MORNING THROUGH MONDAY EVENING...
* WHAT...Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph possible.
* WHERE...Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Northern Erie, Genesee, and Wyoming counties.
* WHEN...From Monday morning through Monday evening.
* IMPACTS...Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates on this situation. Fasten loose objects or shelter objects in a safe location prior to the onset of winds.
HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 7 PM EST MONDAY...
* WHAT...South winds 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph tonight.
Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 55 mph during Monday.
* WHERE...Chautauqua and Southern Erie counties.
* WHEN...From 7 PM this evening to 7 PM EST Monday.
* IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.
Widespread power outages are expected. Strong southeasterly winds will impact Interstate 90 between Ripley and Angola tonight. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.

* WHAT...Minor lakeshore flooding expected.
* WHERE...Chautauqua and Southern Erie counties.
* WHEN...From 10 AM to 7 PM EST Monday.
* IMPACTS...Some water on low lying roads and property along the lakeshore.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Residents on or near the shore should take appropriate action to protect property from rising water levels.
