Shea's Performing Arts announces $50 million expansion

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Shea's Performing Arts Center is announcing plans for expansion of the 100-year-old theater. The plan "Elevate Shea's" will be a $50 million central campaign that will help strengthen Shea's connection to Buffalo's Theater District and expand the community impact.

"You're going to see a spectacular lounge and cabaret." Said Brian Higgins President and CEO of Shea's Performing Arts Center. "We're increasing the usable square footage by 30% and the design is very, very unique."

$30 million of the expansion of Shea's Buffalo Theater will allow enhanced patron amenities, along with improved accessibility and new programmatic space. Five million will go into the completion of the roof for Shea's.

Five million to will go to the Shea's 710 Theater including a modern lounge, cabaret, and outdoor patio, offering new experiences for guests and additional performing entertainment opportunities.

“Shea’s Buffalo Theatre is a cornerstone of downtown Buffalo and a cultural asset for the entire community,” Said Shea’s Broadway Partner Albert Nocciolino. “These capital improvements honor Shea’s rich legacy while inviting future generations to experience the magic of live theatre.”

Ground breaking is expected to begin near the end of the year and will take 24 months to complete, and is expected to be completed in the first or second quarter of 2027.
