Six people taken to ECMC after multi-vehicle accident involving NFTA bus

Wheatfield, N.Y. (WBEN) - NFTA Transit Police is currently investigating a multi-vehicle accident involving an NFTA bus in Niagara County on Friday that sent six people to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo.

At approximately 1:45 p.m. ET on Friday, the NFTA bus was traveling Eastbound on Lockport Road near Walmore and Ward Road in the Town of Wheatfield.

A Sprinter Van and Chevy Cruz were traveling Westbound on Lockport Road, when the van attempted to pass the Chevy on the right side and crashed into the car. The impact caused the van to spin out into oncoming traffic and collide into the bus.

The driver of the van was ejected from the vehicle, and was transported to ECMC with serious injuries.

A total of six people, including two bus passengers and the bus operator, were also transported to ECMC.

New York State Police, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department, and Niagara Falls Air Reserve are all assisting with the ongoing investigation.
