Slow Roll returns tonight in Buffalo

Slow Roll Buffalo

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - Slow Roll Buffalo will return to the streets Monday evening for their 2021 season of neighborhood bike rides.

The organization will kick things off at Big Ditch Brewing at 6:30 Monday evening for a 10-mile roundtrip ride with two stops to regroup. They are releasing only the first half of the six-month schedule of rides, in anticipation of changing regulations later in the year.

As was the case last year, masks will be required for the ride.

"We did it last year, it went great," organizer Seamus Gallivan said about the mask rule. "We're still in a state where guidance from the CDC is if you are in a public space with strangers, than you should wear a mask."

While the Slow Roll was able to go on last year, Gallivan and other organizers hope this year's rides can help rebuild a sense of community that was lost in the past year.

"We're just so excited to get back to gathering," Gallivan said. "In so many ways we've come back to life as a community, and even personally as someone who just lives for gatherings and bringing people together I've been on hibernation, and just the planning of these and getting out and riding with our squad as we're getting ready has felt like coming back to life."
