Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Following Wednesday's tragic death of longtime Buffalo public works employee Michael L. Muscarella, 67, snow removal operations resumed Friday morning at 7am across the hardest hit areas in the southern part of the City.

The Department of Public Works reports that 95% of streets in South Buffalo, Kaisertown and Lovejoy were cleared by the end of the day Friday.

DPW officials say the remaining 5% is removing snow piles at some intersections and/or corners, finishing off streets, and working to clear areas where vehicles have affected the snow removal operation.

DPW officials continued their operations late Friday and anticipated completion early Saturday.

The preliminary investigation indicates Muscarella was fatally struck by a high loader in reverse during snow removal operations. Muscarella's family will lay him to rest following services December 3.
