Buffalo, NY (WBEN) The Erie County District Attorney's Office says a special prosecutor has been appointed to go into the investigation of Chief of Narcotics DJ Granville.
Erie County DA Mike Keane says the Buffalo Police Department's Internal Affairs Division recently contacted him for consultation regarding its ongoing investigation.
As a close family relative of Chief Granville is an employee of the Erie County District Attorney's Office, Keane says there is the potential appearance of impropriety with his office advising the Buffalo Police Department on this matter.
Erie County Court Judge Sheila A. DiTullio has appointed Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman to serve as the special prosecutor.
Erie County paid out tens of thousands in settlements to residents whose cars were struck by Granville's vehicle in 2024.
