State Police investigating drive-by shooting on I-190 early Monday morning

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - New York State Police is investigating a shooting that took place early Monday morning on the I-190 Northbound in the City of Buffalo.

Troopers in Buffalo were dispatched to Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital in the Town of Lewiston at around 12:46 a.m. Monday for a victim of a gun shot wound while driving on the highway.

A preliminary investigation by State Police has revealed that the 32-year-old male victim of Niagara Falls was traveling Northbound on the I-190 in between Exits 14 (Vulcan Street) and 15 (Sheridan Drive) when a dark-colored vehicle pulled alongside the victim’s vehicle and shot rounds, striking the victim.

The victim continued to the nearest hospital, while a passenger called 9-1-1.

The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and is currently receiving further treatment at Erie County Medical Center.

Portions of the I-190 North were shut down in the overnight hours and into the morning and early afternoon hours Monday, as investigators continue to gather more information with this incident.
