Lockport, N.Y. (WBEN) - New York State Police is investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash on Friday involving a pedestrian in the Town of Lockport.
At approximately 9:33 p.m., State Police responded to Sunset Drive for a report of a vehicle striking a pedestrian.
Upon a preliminary investigation, a vehicle traveling on Sunset Drive struck an adult male pedestrian. Troopers arrived on scene and immediately rendered aid, including CPR, until emergency medical personnel arrived.
The pedestrian, identified as 81-year-old LeRoy Smith of Lockport, was transported for medical evaluation and was later pronounced deceased.
The operator of the vehicle, identified as 22-year-old Sean Michael Patrick Leslie of Grand Island, remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, with assistance from uniform members assigned to Lockport, continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
