Blasdell, N.Y. (WBEN) - Eastbound and Westbound traffic along the New York State Thruway - between Blasdell and Lackawanna - was moving slowly Monday afternoon as officials were working to wrangle a couple of loose cows spotted on the median.
"It appears the [New York] State Police are trying to safely corral the cow," said one called, Josh Gregory, to WBEN on Monday.
Westbound traffic, especially just beyond Exit 56 in Blasdell, was down to a snail's pace, as motorists were distracted by the attempts to bring the cow to safety and off the Thruway.
Eastbound traffic was also slow.
It is unclear where the cows came from and how it got stuck on the Thruway.
The New York State Thruway Authority said both animals were corralled and all emergency units cleared the scene just before 3:30 p.m.
