Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Saturday's fire at the Sterling at Arrowhead not only caused $2 million in damage to the building, it caused heartbreak for one soon to be bride, as she now must scramble to find a new wedding venue.
"We've been planning it for 10 months, and it was like our dream venue," says Alissa Londono, who was set to get married at the Akron venue on July 17th. "We drove out there right after we heard to witness it for ourselves, so yeah. Now trying to quickly pivot and figure out what happens next."
London says she's been struggling to find a new venue. "We've reached out to probably three," says London. "We've got a family friend at a venue in Lockport that we're going to see tomorrow, and I'm in a Facebook bride group, and that venues are reaching out through there, saying the dates that they have open, so just trying to see."
Her husband has been taking well, says Londono. "He is very optimistic, calm as a cucumber. I'm definitely more anxious, freaking out. Had some crash outs over the weekend. Like, what are we doing now? But I mean, we got to stay positive, and then luckily he keeps me positive and optimistic," notes .Londono.
Her other vendors are still a firm go for July 17th, so she wants to keep that date. "We talked about changing the date, but we're getting married at Christ the King Church. We're going to get married and figure out a party afterwards, so it's going to be the best day regardless," says Londono.
She says she's still waiting to hear from the Sterling at Arrowhead about getting her money back.
This is a statement from the Sterling at Arrowhead.
