Study: Bills ticket prices averaging double league-wide average in September

Orchard Park, N.Y. (WBEN) - A recent study reveals that Buffalo Bills fans are facing the biggest ticket bill in the NFL this September, and one local secondary ticket broker is not surprised.

Analysis revealed by SeatPick shows that Bills tickets are averaging $726 per-ticket, nearly twice the league-wide average of $386 per-ticket across all 48 games taking place in the month of September.

SeatPick goes on further to say Buffalo's home opener on Thursday, Sept. 17 against the Detroit Lions is seeing tickets averaging $1,137 per-ticket, 736% more expensive than the month's cheapest matchup between the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts ($136) on Sept. 27. It is also the second-priciest matchup of the entire 2026 season.

To Nick Giammusso from VIPTIX.com, those numbers are the least bit surprising, given the circumstances.

"The Bills are at the height of their success. It seems like with Josh Allen running the offense and with the new stadium, we're seeing prices up there, for sure, for the season," said Giammusso in an interview with WBEN. "A fun fact is the average get-in price to attend a Bills game this season is $357, which is tops in the league, by far. So it's going to be an expensive season to attend a Bills game with the new stadium, for sure."

Giammusso says the average price for a ticket to the season opener against the Lions is, by far, the highest price per-ticket he has seen for a Bills game in several years.

Given the Bills have an early stretch of three-straight home games in late September and early October, Giammusso does not anticipate the ticket prices to come down much, at least not yet.

"When looking at the data, we've seen prices slide a little bit. But with the start of the preseason games, they've started to go up now with all the attention squarely on the Bills," Giammusso noted.

Where Giammusso sees the biggest factor coming with ticket prices dropping at the new stadium in Orchard Park is when the weather begins to turn colder in Western New York.

"With the new stadium, though, a lot of the wind has been kind of taken care of. But Buffalo is still Buffalo, and a lot of the seats - almost half the seats - are covered from the elements. But you can't prevent the cold weather," Giammusso said. "Those games in January and December - particularly the New York Jets game, the last game of the season, it's a get-in price of only $173. So if you're thinking about going to the game and popping in to see the stadium, that's the game you want to squarely set your eyes on. It's affordable right now, and it could go both ways. As the season ramps up, buyers enter the market and they're looking for those games. It's shortly after Christmas break, and fans are going to try to to get into those games, and the Jets game, for sure, is the cheapest on the schedule so far."

So what about the the upcoming preseason games this Saturday against the Carolina Panthers, as well as Aug. 27 against the Pittsburgh Steelers? Giammusso says those games are the best bank for your buck, especially if you wanted to get in to experience the new stadium.

"For the Carolina game, you can get in for $50 and check out the stadium. The preseason games are a great way to see the stadiums for cheap. Then you've got towards the end of August, you've got the Pittsburgh Steelers coming to town, and those tickets are an $80 get-in for that game. If you want to check out the stadium, those are the games to go to, because you can do so inexpensively in comparison to the other games on the schedule," he said.
