Buffalo, NY (WBEN) The teen who shot a McKinley High School security officer during a fight last year is going to prison.
The teen, now 18, was denied youthful offender status when Judge Kenneth Case sentenced him to 5 years in prison for firing several shots during the fight outside of the school.
The adolescent offender, who was 17-years-old at the time of the crime, pleaded guilty to assault and criminal possession of a weapon last month.
Another 18-year-old male from Buffalo was sentenced to 1 to 3 years of incarceration for his role in the incident.
He was adjudicated as a youthful offender despite opposition by prosecutors, and pleaded guilty to attempted murder and assault for his role in the beating and stabbing of a 14 year old student.
