Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Whether you shovel it, plow it or blow it, there's a mountain of snow to move across the Buffalo-Niagara region after a winter storm dumped snow measured by the foot across the area overnight into Monday.
Heavy equipment is buzzing about all over and working to clear the snow from roads, driveways, parking lots and sidewalks.
Jason had his entire family out with shovels in hand working to clear the snow from his Orchard Park driveway. More than a foot of snow was between Jason and the road and he admitted he's starting to consider a snowblower for the job in the future.
"We figured it was an all hands effort for this amount of snow," Jason told WBEN as his two young kids and wife were chipping away at the heavy snow on the driveway. "We played in it for a little before we started to showel it," his daughter chimed in.
Delaney is one of the hundreds of private plow drivers who have been out since the early hours of the morning working to keep up with the heavy snowfall. WBEN caught up with her as she was refueling with a hot cup of coffee at a Tim Horton's in Orchard Park before returning to her plow.
"It's crazy, just nonstop coming down," Delaney said. "Every time you plow it, it's just back again."
Delaney said there is less traffic with schools and many businesses closed for the Martin Luther King holiday, but added that all her clients still needed the snow cleared and it's no holiday for her and scores of other contractors working to move the snow.
"Daycares don't close, so you have to do those and make sure they're ready," Delaney said. "Medical places have to be done as soon as they open, so they have to be ready for people."
In Jason's driveway the kids were enjoying their holiday off from school and wishing the snow came on a day when it would forces classes to be canceled. "We're hoping for tomorrow," they said as they continued pushing snow to the side of the driveway.
