Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Buffalo Police say they made three arrests in connection with a stolen vehicle in Tonawanda after occupants pointed a gun at a Tonawanda Police Department detective. Buffalo Police say two weapons were recovered.
Shortly after 9 pm Tuesday., Buffalo police officers were flagged down by a Tonawanda detective and the car theft victim. Officers were told that, in an attempt by Tonawanda Police to stop the stolen vehicle, one of the occupants pointed a gun at the detective as the vehicle fled. Police say officers then spotted the vehicle at Main and E Utica Streets and attempted a traffic stop. Police say the vehicle again fled, as officers initiated a lengthy pursuit. At approximately 9:30 p.m., the vehicle came to a stop on Manhart Street.
Police say four occupants fled from the vehicle on foot. One fleeing suspect was apprehended in a driveway on Manhart Street in possession of a Glock 19. One fleeing suspect was apprehended while hiding under a parked vehicle on Alma Avenue. One fleeing suspect was apprehended while hiding in a garbage tote on Shreck Avenue in possession of a Glock 40. The fourth suspect remains outstanding at this time.
A 15-year-old Buffalo male and two 17-year-old Buffalo males have been charged with one count menacing a police officer, one count criminal possession of stolen property; one count reckless endangerment, one count of obstruction of governmental administration and one count resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor. The 15-year-old and one 17-year-old have also been charged with another count of criminal possession of a weapon.
