Hamburg, N.Y. (WBEN) - Hamburg Police now say a 36-year-old Jamestown woman, who was fatally shot by a department officer during a burglary investigation Friday, is also responsible for a violent stabbing attack inside a private transport van.

"We can confirm the deceased female is Lisa Haight, age 36, of Jamestown, New York," police said in an update on Saturday. "We are also able to verify that the deceased female was the person responsible for the burglary, which took place on Willet Road, and that subsequently broke into the second home on McKinley Parkway, where the shooting took place."

Police say a short time before the Willet Road burglary, Haight repeatedly, and without provocation, stabbed a passenger in a van, causing extensive serious physical injuries to the victim. At some point after the stabbing, Haight exited the private van near the address on Willett Road of the first burglary.

The victim of the stabbing was rushed to the hospital by the van to receive emergency treatment for her extensive injuries to the face, shoulder, and head.

Police encountered Haight inside a home on McKinley Parkway during the burglary investigation when she was confronted by police and the shooting took place.

The incident continues to be investigated by the Hamburg Police, assisted by the New York State Police and New York State Attorney General's Office.

An update on the incident is expected sometime Tuesday.
