Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - It's that time of year in Western New York where the weather starts to break just long enough to justify a trip to the local ice cream shop.
Owner of Sweet Jenny's Chocolates and Ice Cream, Howard Cadmus, says he's excited to see the crowds of people pouring in now that consistently warmer weather is on the horizon.
"I think the weather change is more of a thing that helps us emotionally to feel better, because people in Western New York will come out all the time. People love ice cream, whether it's cold, whether it's hot. We seem to always be busy, but with the weather changing, it's going to be extraordinarily busy for what we've had the last couple months. It's going to be really nice, because, again, it puts people in a good mood. It helps them to get a little vitamin D from the sun, and it gets them out here with their families, enjoying themselves," stated Cadmus.
Co-Owner of Lake Effect Ice Cream Jason Wulf says they've already seen an uptick in sales over the past few days, with some flavors even temporarily out of stock because of demand. However, new flavors are already beginning to roll out.
"One is called Old Fashioned Orange Ice Box Cake. That one's a brand new one that hasn't even been out for a week yet. We do a lot of our Polish glazed donut ice cream and our salty caramel and frozen hot chocolate. There's ones that we always keep stocked up on. Those are just a few of them," stated Wulf.
