Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR/WBEN) - Western New York's Sports Giant - WGR - will remain the radio home of the Buffalo Sabres from years to come.
The Sabres, along with Audacy Buffalo, announced on Thursday the agreement of a new multi-year partnership that will keep WGR as the flagship station of the team. It's a partnership that has already been going strong for more than 20 years, and will expand more for the upcoming season of hockey.
"Really excited that we've extended our relationship with WGR to be the flagship of the Buffalo Sabres. I think after coming off of last year, which it was an incredible season and generated a lot of excitement, we're really thrilled to be back," said Pete Guelli, president of business operations of the Sabres. "We know there's a lot of history in that relationship. I listen all the time, there's a lot of guys with a deep knowledge around hockey. So we think it's a perfect partnership, and we're excited that we're all back together."

Game broadcasts will, once again, feature Dan Dunleavy and Rob Ray on WGR in the Buffalo broadcast market, along with the Sabres App and Audacy App.
The Sabres and Audacy will also form the Sabres Radio Network to expand the broadcast reach of Sabres games. A full list of stations and markets carrying broadcasts will be announced at a later date.
Also as part of an agreement announced recently by Audacy, WGR will now be available to offer out-of-market fans access to the Sabres through Sirius XM.
In addition to game broadcasts, WGR programming will feature exclusive Sabres content, including interviews with coaches, players and executives.
The new partnership will also bring changes to "Sabres Live", which will be available for fans in new ways:
- The show will be carried live from 12 p.m.-to-1 p.m. on MSG (in the Sabres’ broadcast market), the Sabres App, and the Sabres’ YouTube channel.
- Fans can watch or listen to the show on demand after 1 p.m. on the Audacy App, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, the Sabres’ YouTube channel, and DAZN.
- The show will now air on WGR at 8 p.m. on non-game nights.
“We're excited to continue our long-standing relationship as the official voice of the Buffalo Sabres,” said WGR brand manager Allan Davis in a statement. “No radio station in the U.S. talks more hockey than Western New York's Voice of the Fans - WGR. And no fan base anywhere loves their team more than Sabres fans do. We look forward to bringing them every play, every game, and every story every day."
