Pendelton, N.Y. (WBEN) - A Pendleton high tech manufacturer is considering an expansion that will double down on both its workforce and size of its Donner Road headquarters.
But while the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency (NCIDA) has offered a series of tax breaks and incentives that top $2.7 million, the company - JM Canty - also has offers from Dublin, Ireland, where it has a European sister operation, and a possible start-up site in Florida.
The $8.22 million proposed expansion could see JM Canty add 40,000-square-feet of manufacturing and research and development space to its existing 35,000-square-foot headquarters at 6100 Donner Road.
And JM Canty's employment could double from 41 workers to 82 employees, with some earning as much as $135,000 annually. New jobs could include designers, engineers and CNC machinists.
"We're in the early stages of looking into where our future investment will be," said Colleen Kelley, JM Canty president.
Kelley said the NCIDA tax break package could be a big swing factor in Niagara County's favor.
Founded in 1969, JM Canty's main product is a camera-operating vision monitoring system used in the pharmaceutical, biotech and, even craft breweries.
It has also created a specialized filtration system that can separate particulates down to a single micron and new hyperbolic chamber light used in diving research - simulating depths to more than one mile.
Combined, all are leading to the company's planned expansion, Kelley said.
The Niagara County IDA directors are expected to vote on JM Canty's tax break package ion July 8.
