Year-round helicopter tours coming to Niagara Falls

"By having a really high level year round attraction in the city, it gives people reason to use it as a year round destination."

Niagara Falls, N.Y. (WBEN) - Niagara Falls announce a $25 million Rainbow Air Tourism Center. This will allow tourism year round.

Not just the helicopter tours, but also can have people virtually fly over Niagara Falls in the winter. The Center will offer people to experience Niagara Falls which will bring in more tourism to the falls.

"Personally I can't wait to see it in the air in the wintertime." Said sales and marketing manager of Rainbow Air Helicopter Tours Patrick Keyes. "I've always loved seeing the falls in the winter more, so even just because it's such a vastly different landscape. So to have that perspective is just another addition to what makes Niagara Falls a great destination."

Mayor Rob Restaino said that this project is a great success story for it to become a year-round tourism destination. New York State representative for the 145 district Angelo Morinello is excited to see this attraction mixed with aviation history.

"This is a great success story about how private investments, individuals with an idea." Restaino said. "Understanding the market and recognizing that one of the things that they can contribute to is what this administration is striving for, and that is year round tourism."

The rides take passengers up through Niagara Falls between 2,500 and 3,500 feet.
