Following his loss in the 2020 Presidential Election, many have wondered if Donald Trump will launch another campaign and run again in 2024. His political rival, Hillary Clinton, said in an interview that aired over the weekend on 'Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist' that she believes Trump will run again.
"If I were a betting person right now, I'd say Trump is going to run again," Clinton said.
Clinton went on to explain what she sees Trump doing, based on his actions over the last year.
"He seems to be setting himself up to do that, and if he's not held accountable, he gets to do it again," Clinton said.
She was straight to the point when discussing what another Trump campaign would mean for the country and the political landscape.
"I think that could be the end of our democracy," Clinton said. "Not to be too pointed about it, but I want people to understand that this could be a make-or-break point. If he or someone of his ilk were once again to be elected president, especially if he had a Congress that would do his bidding, you will not recognize our country."
The former secretary of state told Geist that she has felt moments of guilt since losing the election, knowing the dangers of what would happen in a Trump presidency.
"I tried to warn people," Clinton said. "I tried to make the case that this was really dangerous — the people he was allied with, what they were saying, what he might do. I do think but for Jim Comey and the stunt he pulled 10 days before the election, I would have won."
While Clinton feels confident that Trump will run for presidency again, others around the 75-year-old have said that he won't run due to the fear of losing again.
"He knows deep inside, although he will never admit it, he did lose in 2020 and very much fears losing in 2024, because if he hates anything in the world, he hates being called a loser," former National Security Advisor John Bolton said in an interview with Britain's ITV in November. "He will talk about running incessantly until the very last moment because if he were ever to say he was not going to be a candidate, it would turn the spotlight off, and he doesn't like that either."
