A Florida couple who had been married less than a week was killed in a double homicide over the weekend, according to local authorities.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting on Saturday morning in West Palm Beach, where deputies found a man and woman dead with gunshot wounds at a residence.

Since the shooting, police have arrested 46-year-old Sony Josaphat, who previously lived at the home. Josaphat has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, according to police.

“The family has invoked Marsy’s Law for both victims,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement, which means their names won’t be made public. “Let’s keep them in thought and prayer during this difficult time.”

According to the bride’s sister, who spoke with WPTV, the couple had been married just one week before they were found dead by police.

A probable cause affidavit revealed that Josaphat’s daughter called 911 Saturday morning, reporting that she watched her father shoot the newlyweds, NBC News reported.

Responding to the call, deputies found the daughter and her brother at the home and the victims lying on the sidewalk outside the front door.

According to the documents, Josaphat has not lived at the residence where the shooting occurred for more than 12 months, but he randomly showed up from time to time.

Josaphat told a deputy that he shot the couple after being overcome with “anger” when he saw a surveillance camera being installed by the front door of the home.

“He walked up to [redacted] and said, ‘Good morning.’ They said ‘Good morning’ back to him. Sony then shot [redacted] in the upper torso and head. He then shot [redacted] several times,” the affidavit said, NBC News reported.

The relationship between Josaphat and the victims was redacted from the document.

After the shooting, police say he called his pastor and confessed what he had done before driving to the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office headquarters, admitting to the shooting, and surrendering.
