Even though she was out of town, a Florida woman was still able to help police track down a stranger who entered her home using her surveillance cameras.

According to the Edgewater Police Department, the woman is a resident of Sanchez Avenue in the town, located near Daytona Beach. She called the police department early Saturday morning and told them she saw an unknown man walking around in her house.

Authorities said she was able to send them a video of the surveillance footage, and “the hunt for the male was on.”

“After a few minutes, EPD proved to be the hide-and-seek champions once again, after locating the male hiding behind a fence,” said the department in a Facebook post.

In a video, officers with firearms can be seen searching the property. Eventually, the locate a suspect.

“I was sleeping back here,” said the man, his hands visible over the edge of a fence. “I was just sleeping.”

When asked by an officer if he entered the woman’s home, the man admitted that he opened the front door. Later, he admitted to walking inside, but said that he only walked up to the staircase and then turned and walked away.

Police identified the suspect as Scott Winkler. While Winkler was a stranger to the woman who called 911, he was “certainly not,” to the police department. He was placed under arrest for loitering and prowling.

An investigation into the incident was ongoing as of Sunday.
Police said additional charges are likely.
