NEW YORK (WBEN) — While Gov. Andrew Cuomo has been limiting questions from reporters in recent weeks, he was asked Wednesday about his sexual misconduct scandal at a virtual press conference.
Cuomo has already come out to say that he never meant to make anyone feel uncomfortable in his presence but, reiterated on Wednesday that it is in his nature to kiss and hug people.
Now, with multiple allegations of improper touching, he was asked if he has changed his views on that form of greeting but, did not directly answer the question.
“We are in a COVID situation, social distancing and masks,” he said.
The Attorney General and the New York State Assembly have both launched investigations into Gov. Cuomo’s alleged behavior.
Gov. Cuomo has repeatedly asked the public to wait for the investigations to conclude prior to casting judgement.
“Let's see what the review says,” Cuomo said. “The assembly is doing a review. The Attorney General's doing a review. I’ll then tell you what I think.”
Over the last two months, several lawmakers throughout New York State have called for the governor to resign after being accused by multiple women of inappropriate conduct.
On Wednesday, he was asked if he would resign should an investigation find that he did, in fact, commit sexual harassment.
However, the governor artfully dodged that question as well.
“Let's see what the review says and then we'll take it from there,” Cuomo said.
The governor is also embattled in a second scandal involving his administration’s handling of COVID-19 in state nursing homes.
