"At the end of the day, I just want everybody to live in America where they can be free, happy, and prosper because that's exactly what our country was founded on."

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Thousands of demonstrators gathered at Niagara Square Saturday afternoon protesting President Donald Trump "No King". This was one of many protests happening across Western New York and the rest of the United States.

Many Western New Yorkers are hoping that these protests will bring change to the United States Government. Many protestors downtown were chanting for the impeachment of President Trump along with showing the president what Democracy looks like. Williamsville native Kristen Lawson said that it has been hard to watch the impact it has had on the local community.

"It's really hard to watch local restaurants have to close and hard working people have to stay away from their jobs because they're afraid to be thrown in a van and taken away." Lawson said.

Chants echoing around Niagara Square showing what Democracy looks like. North Tonawanda resident Ann Herman wants to see I.C.E. to stop kidnapping people from off the street, and allow people due process for every human that enters the United States.

"I want the people that are here legally to have faith in the government that they negotiated with." Herman said.

Many demonstrators want to see change and feel that the president is ruling the government like a king. Protester Angela Brauer speaking with WBEN said that she is here because there have been no kings in this country since it declared independence in 1776.

"Immigrants made this country great." Brauer said. "Everything the United States stands for he's (President Trump) abolishing."
