Theresa, a self-described die-hard Buffalo Sabres' fan arrived at KeyBank Center around 7 a,m. in the hopes of buying one of the few remaining first round playoff tickets at the team's box office.
Theresa deliberately trekked to the downtown Buffalo arena to buy the tickets, in person, like she had done in very distant past.
"I expected a long line and there was nobody here," Theresa said.
That's because the Sabres opted to sell the first round tickets online and not at the box office. The team communicated that through various social media platforms and it was mentioned during TV telecasts.
"Yeah, but not everybody is on Facebook," Theresa lamented.
By 9:30, a small smattering of Sabres' fans were waiting in a cold, drenching rain when a team representative said the tickets were only be sold online and not at the box office.
Frustration mounted among the fans.
"It's stupid," said Sally, a former season ticket holder..
Shortly after 10 a.m., the few remaining tickets were sold out and some tickets were going on the secondary market with low four-figure prices.
"I just wish we would have had a chance," Theresa said.
The Sabres' first round playoff schedule will be released later this week.
