ALBANY (WBEN) - Good news from Governor Andrew Cuomo's Wednesday morning conference call, as he noted the state's current 3.58% positivity rate, which represents the lowest mark since November 28.
"The seven-day average positivity has declined for 40 straight days - 3.6% today," said Cuomo.
On Tuesday, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz held his weekly COVID briefing, also noting a decline in positivity rate.
Cuomo spent a decent amount of the conference call discussing the distribution process and the need to ensure fairness and equity, especially since vaccine supply remains low. The governor believes there will come a point when there is enough vaccine supply that the various channels of distribution will no longer cause confusion.
"It is very important that the distribution be fair - this is a precious resource," said Cuomo.
Cuomo says they know they have a vaccine hesitancy problem, especially within the Black community. To date, the state has set up 91 pop-up vaccination sites across the state, and 13 more will open up this week, including sites in Buffalo and Rochester.
