Wednesday is "fish day" for Elma resident Heidi Gee.

But, not today.

Not with Elma's water supply issues now in its second day, residents like Gee have to re=adjust their daily routine.

So for Gee, who has 12 fish tanks in her house, they will have to wait a day or two until Elma's water supply returns.

"They can get by another day or two," Gee said.

Elma saw one of its major water lines burst Tuesday morning, impacting water supplies to much of the town along with some portions of Orchard Park and Elma.

To help residents, the town is offering free water - in form of three 1 gallon jugs of Meyer Brothers water. Meyer Brothers has focused all of its production on filling jugs and cans for impacted Elma residents

From Tuesday through mid-Wednesday morning, nine pallets of water have been distributed at the Jamison Road Volunteer Fire Co. hall. That's the equivalent of more than 2,000 gallons of water.

"The people are so appreciative," said Lea Torres, a volunteer at the Jamison Road fire hall.

Gee agrees.

"What the town is doing is great," Gee said.

Small businesses in the town are also being impacted.

Liz Dugan, who owns Salon Elizabeth on Jamison Road, had to cancel and reschedule 10 appointments set for Wednesday because she had no water at her shop.

"You can't color hair, if you don't have water," Dugan said. "It just makes things more difficult."
