BUFFALO (WBEN) - Signature Development President Rocco Termini unveiled the Tappo Day Club on Chandler Street to the media Wednesday, complete with a pool, restaurant, lounge chairs, and live entertainment.

"This is the Miami of Buffalo right here on Chandler Street," said Termini.

The project has been in the works since spring of 2019 and will open to the general public starting Sunday, May 23.

The site was originally used for Niagara Petroleum, which burned about a decade ago. The location became a Brownfield cleanup site, as it was contaminated with hydrocarbons. The total cost of the development, including the parking lot across the street, was about $4 million.

"The most exciting thing for me is seeing people's faces when they walk through that gate," said Termini. "First of all, nobody expects it to be this big when you look at the outside, and nobody expects it to be this nice - you walked off a street that's got holes in it, and you walk into Miami Beach."

The pool and lounge area will be available to guests by purchasing a $25 day-pass. This fee includes access to the 1,600 square-foot pool, outdoor shower, changing room, a lounge chair and complimentary towel usage. A poolside menu will be available as well as full bar.

The facility also offers bistro and rooftop bar access that does not require purchase of a day-pass. At this time, passes will be sold at the door and valid for same-day usage only.
