Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - It's been a long time in coming, but finally spring-like warmth is overspreading Buffalo and Western New York for the week ahead.

The warm-up begins with temperatures in the 60's, then 70's midweek and in the 80's by the end of the week.

AccuWeather says while the beginning of the week will have temperatures only slightly above normal, more notable heat is expected to arrive by Thursday, when Buffalo is among the metros expected to have its first 80-degree day of the season.

The warmth will be accompanied by mainly dry conditions through the week. "The prolonged period of dry weather will come to a close next weekend," warn meteorologists at the National Weather Service in Buffalo. The chance of showers will exist throughout the forecast for the upcoming weekend, forecasters say.
