Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Travel bans across the Metro Buffalo area were being lifted in waves Thursday, as communities continue to clear roadways and dig out from a punishing run of lake effect snow.
As of 6 a.m. EST, travel bans were lifted in the towns of West Seneca, Cheektowaga and Lancaster, along with the villages within.
The City of Lackawanna and Town of Hamburg lifted their bans as of 7 a.m. EST on Thursday morning.
The Town of Orchard Park lifted its driving ban at 8 a.m. EST, as did the City of Buffalo south of Broadway.
The city says a travel advisory will remain in effect as cleanup continues in South Buffalo, Kaisertown, Lovejoy and the Old First Ward.
Buffalo DPW officials advise residents and motorists to use caution.
Route 219 has re-opened, as have all state roads for commercial travel.
