Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - With a mounting death toll weighing heavily on their minds, Buffalonians are spending the days after Christmas with shovels in hand as they dig out from the historic blizzard that paralyzed the city.
At least 28 people died as a result of the storm that began Friday and continued through Christmas Day, leaving mountain-sized drifts and hundreds of abandoned vehicles strewn across city streets.
A driving ban remains in place in Buffalo as municipal crews continue their snow removal efforts, haul away abandoned vehicles and work to get the city back on its feet.
