Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Just as advertised, lake effect snow meandered northward across the Buffalo metro area Wednesday morning, slowing the morning commute on just about every main highway with reduced visibility and snow covered lanes.
"It's slowly moving northward," National Weather Service meteorologist Jason Alumbaugh told WBEN this morning as he predicted the band would eventually become less organize by midday and become more a nuisance than a threat.
Within the snow band Wednesday morning, 1-to-2 inches of snow per-hour was forecast.
How much snow will fall?
"I'd say the southtowns will probably see 3 to 4 inches ... but most areas will probably see between 1 and 3 inches as it's moving through."
High pressure then builds in briefly Thursday bringing dry and warmer weather before generally unsettled weather returns for the end of the work week and the upcoming weekend.
