NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880/WBEN) -- There's a national perspective that Buffalo remain buried in feet of snow. It's been the winter of extremes in the Western New York region.
But in New York City they're asking, "Where's the snow?" Seriously. Any snow?

New York City surpassed its 50-year record for the latest-ever snowfall on Monday—and there’s still no measurable snow in the near forecast, according to AccuWeather.
The latest snowfall ever recorded in Central Park was on Jan. 29, 1973.
With no snow falling on Monday, the city has set a new record, and it’s unclear how long it will be until the five boroughs see measurable snow over one-tenth of an inch.

The last time there was measurable snow in Central Park was March 9, 2022—or 327 days without snow as of Monday.
The longest Central Park has ever gone without snow is 332 days during the 2019–2020 season.
If the city makes it to Feb. 4 without any measurable snow it will break the record for the longest period without snow.
It’s very possible that will happen, as there is no significant snow in the forecast for the city this week, despite several periods of frigid temps.

There has never been a winter without measurable snow in the city since records were first kept in the 1860s. While it’s possible the city could have a snowless winter, February is usually the snowiest month in the five boroughs, so it could still very well happen.
Monday is mild with a high near 52. A shower can’t be ruled out, especially at night.

Tuesday will be colder with highs in the upper 30s. A system could bring a bit of snow or rain, mainly in South Jersey.
Wednesday will be brisk and chilly as highs linger in the mid-30s.
Another storm system on Thursday may bring some snow or rain, mainly south of the city. The high will be near 40.
Looking ahead, there’s another temperature plunge Friday, when the mercury will drop to 30 degrees during the day and the single digits overnight. RealFeels will be in the negatives.
It will be cold again Saturday, with highs in the 20s and lows in the teens, before temps warm to the 40s Monday and near 50 by Wednesday.
