Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - You could hear an exhale across the Buffalo-Niagara region as relief from the heat and humidity arrived.
Cooler and less humid air will continue to spread into the area Monday making for a much more comfortable start to the new work week, National Weather Service forecasters say.
Monday's high temperature will be in the low to mid 70's across the region with overnight lows in the 50's. Some showers and thunderstorms can't be ruled out.
Relief will be brief, however.
Warm and humid conditions will return Tuesday and especially Wednesday when a pair of frontal passages support showers and potentially strong thunderstorms.

The chance of thunderstorms will be greater Wednesday and particularly inland, across the southern tier and finger lakes. Highs Tuesday and Wednesday will be found in the 80's with dewpoints climbing well into the 60's.
Another shot of warmth will arrive into the weekend with Saturday's high forecast in the upper 80's to near 90.
