Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Good things come to those who wait.

Well, we've waited and there are some good things to come in the forecast as meteorologists look toward the weekend in Buffalo and Western New York.

Once we get through Wednesday, things will begin to improve, albeit gradually.

"In the Northeast, highs in the 40s and 50s that will be felt for much of the week will be swapped out for highs in the 60s and 70s in many areas by the weekend," AccuWeather Long-Range Meteorologist Brandon Buckingham said.

The meteorologists at the National Weather Service in Buffalo concur, noting a change in the forecast as the week advances. "Warming temperatures and drier conditions are expected starting late in the week and the weekend."

Let's just skip Wednesday and look toward the weekend for some hope. "A dry and warmer weekend is ahead for western and north central NY," NWS forecasters in Buffalo say.

How warm?

"Highs will ... surge back above normal as early as Sunday with readings away from the lakes reaching the upper 60s to lower 70s," forecasters say.

And even better news?

"Temperatures will remain above normal early next week."

Let's go!
